Savusavu The Hidden Paradise, The Friendly North, both of these describe this sleepy little town of Savusavu. Located on the southern side of Vanua Levu, Savusavu is the central business center of this side of the island. With a population of 5000 residence and a daily in flux of another 2500 or more this little seaside town is the only place to stock up on provisions. Savusavu has several supermarkets such as Morris Hedstrom (MH), Dayarams, Ram Jattan. There is several hardware stores, Gulabdas and Savusavu hardware as well as some clothing and video stores. Located in the center of town is the large farmers market where fresh veggies and yaqona can be purchased. Savusavu also has a few restaurants such as Cruisers (Japanese), Bula Re (Fijian), Captains Cafe (Pizza, sandwiches), and several curry houses. There are 3 banks in Savusavu, ANZ, Westpac, and Colonial. All three have cash machines and are open Monday thru Friday .Savusavu has a night club called Urosous open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. There is also the Savusavu Yacht Club for cold beers and the Wai Tui bar. Something to remember about Savusavu, during the week the town is basically closed by 4:00pm, Saturday the town is closed by 1:00pm and Sunday Savusavu is just plain closed. So plan accordingly.
